CWCountyWikiIndependent guide to local servicesCalifornia directory
An independent public resource

Local government should be easier to find.

CountyWiki helps you find local offices and public utilities, understand their services and go directly to its official website.

CountyWiki is not a government website. It is not operated by, affiliated with or endorsed by any federal, state or local government agency.

What we publish

Our office guides bring together official websites, service links, fee items, forms and contact details. Every source-backed item has a citation. The directory now includes statewide California county and city identities, public agency directories and separately reviewed office services. Source vintages and service depth vary.

How we check information

  1. Start with an official directory. We use county government department lists, public agency websites and the California Judicial Branch directory to establish office identities and service areas.
  2. Capture the source. We retain the official page or PDF, its web address and the date of collection. Some sites need browser rendering to be readable.
  3. Review each item. An AI-assisted research process checks website identity, office role, service links and supporting passages. Fee items refer to a specific document page and include conditions when available.
  4. Keep gaps visible. A checked website is not a certification of every fact on it. Contact details, fee amounts or forms that have not been reviewed remain explicitly marked as missing.
  5. Recheck before updating. A changed source needs a new review before its facts enter a new release. The current site continues to show the previously reviewed data until that review is complete.

What “Source checked” means

The date indicates when a source and its role or supporting excerpt were reviewed. It does not imply a human check, guarantee that all information is current or mean that the whole office page is complete. Fee effective dates are separate from review dates.

What we do not collect

We do not collect person-level government records, court cases, arrest or inmate data. We do not process applications, payments or requests for certificates. Those services belong to the official office.

Corrections and coverage

The pilot’s correction form saves a report on your device for review; it does not send reports to a team. Save an error report or explore our sources and coverage.
