CalWORKs (California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids) provides temporary financial assistance and employment-related services to needy families with minor children. The program is designed to provide families with the means to meet their basic needs in difficult times, while helping them to enter or reenter the workforce and become self-sufficient. A variety of supportive services are available, such as child care, transportation, and others necessary for a successful transition from welfare to work.
