Apply for State Disability Insurance

Find EDD eligibility, timing, medical-certification and application instructions for Disability Insurance.

Before you start

  • DI is for your own qualifying disability. PFL has separate care, bonding and military-assist claim routes.
  • DI generally uses a day 9–49 filing window and medical certification. PFL uses a day 1–41 window; documents depend on claim type.
  • These are state benefit applications. Use your actual claim instructions and notice for mailing addresses, required documents and appeals.
