- The Certificate of Identity must be included with the application to receive an authorized certified copy. Informational Certified Copy If you are not authorized or do not wish to submit the notarized Certificate of Identity you can request an Informational Certified Copy. This copy will have the words "INFORMATIONAL, NOT A VALID DOCUMENT TO ESTABLISH IDENTITY" imprinted across the face of the copy. Informational copies cannot be used for legal purposes.

- We accept: Checks Money orders Make payable to the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk and mail to: Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Birth, Death and Marriage Records Section PO Box 489 Norwalk, CA 90651-0489 We do not accept: E-Checks Temporary checks Foreign checks (with the exception of Canada and Mexico) If an E-Check, temporary or foreign check is received, the request will be rejected and sent back to the submitter requesting a new method of payment. Please do not send cash as a form of payment. No requests are available via telephone.
